We have well qualified, highly experienced and dedicated staff, to teach both theory and practicals of all the subjects covered in the first and third phases of the ATS. With the collective experience of several years, (the staff have earlier taught at prestigious engineering and science colleges in Mumbai,) and the shipboard and workshop experience they are eminently qualified to handle all aspects of the training..

Our highly experienced workshop instructors have undergone special 'Training for Trainers' courses at MTI Powai, Mumbai.

A Warden looks after the daily workouts, games and other activities connected with the welfare of the candidates. The Rector takes personal interest in their residential arrangements, food and wellbeing.

The entire staff works under the direct supervision of the Rector and the Principal of the academy.

Fr. Mario Vaz.sdb, Rector

Director of the campus and overall incharge of the Don Bosco Maritime Academy. A graduate in English Literature with a background in Communication with specialization in Radio and Television Broadcasting, he has several years experience as Rector, Director and Administrator at Various Don Bosco institutions.

Principal - Mr. G. A. Soman

A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T. Mumbai and a First Class MOT (Motors), Mr. Soman has sailed as Chief Engineer on a wide range of ships. In a sailing career spanning 20 years, he has worked with both Indian and foreign shipping companies on a wide variety of ships. He has been part of the Academy since its inception and has been responsible for planning, designing and conducting all its activities. Mr. Soman is also a qualified Internal Auditor for Quality Systems besides being a Trained Trainer and a Fellow of Institute of Marine Engineers ( India). He serves as the management representative for quality systems.

Mr. H. M. Chandwani - A graduate in Mechanical Engineering and a First Class M.O.T. (Motors), has sailed as a Chief Engineer on a wide range of ships. He also has extensive experience in the shore industry and teaches marine engineering in the Academy. He is a Trained Trainer and a Member of the Institute of Engineers ( India).

Mr. Sunny K. Peter – A first class (MOT) motors, has sailed as Chief Engineer on a wide range of ships. He has about 16 years of sailing experience and two years of industrial experience. He has also undergone TOTA. He teaches Marine Technology and Naval Architecture and other short term courses.

Mr. N. G. Jadhav - An Electronics Engineering graduate, Mr. Jadhav teaches mathematics, electrical and electronics engineering. He has been with the Academy since it's inception and is a Trained Trainer.

Mrs. Suparna Ray - A Master of Science in Chemistry, Mrs. Ray has been with the Academy since it's inception. She is a Trained Trainer and teaches material science besides handling all work related to quality systems.

Mr. Ravi K Nair - A second engineer, has good experience in steam machinery and has undergone several courses. He conducts various workshop based courses related to marine machinery.

Mr. B. S. Chavan - A graduate in Production Engineering, he looks after the engineering drawing and mechanical sciences laboratories.

Mr. Peter D’souza - Equipped with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. D'souza is a visiting lecturer for thermodynamics and heat engines.

Mr. M. Ravanan - A Master of Mechanical Engineering, he is a visiting lecturer for applied mechanics and strength of materials.

Mr. S.M Potdar - A mechanical drafts man with vast experience in teaching and guiding trainees in engineering drawing and design. He assist Mr B.S Chavan in teaching Drawing and Design for the ATS tranees.

Mr. Michael Rodrigues - A graduate in electrical engineering he has vast experience in industry and teaching especially PLCS .He conducts the theory and practicals for marine electrotechnology.

Mr. D. Nagarkar - Has vast experience as an electrical officer in both the Indian and Merchant Navy for about 14 years. He handles the electrical and electronics lab.

Mr. G. D. Ilake - With credentials from I.T.I. and N.C.T.V.T. and a long stint in the Voltas training department, he supervises the Machine shop and its activities.

Mr. D. V. Kadam - Sailed as a fitter for several years on board different ships of reputed companies. Mr. Kadam has undergone training for Workshop Instructors and oversees the fitting shop and marine bay activities.

Mr. P. N. Joshi - With credentials from I.T.I., Mr. Joshi has worked in different companies and undergone training for Workshop Instructor. He looks after the welding shop activities.

Mr. Roland Pearl – Has vast sailing experience as a Marine Fitter in various shipping companies and looks after the Marine Machinery Workshop.

Mr. T. Prasad - I.T.I and N.C.V.T qualified, and with considerable experience in Voltas' fitting shop and fabrication department, he addresses the same activities at the Academy.

Mr. S. J. Sakpal - An I.T.I. trained welder, he has gained much experience at reputed companies and looks after the welding shop activities.

Mr. M. R. Gupta - A N.C.V.T. trained welder, he has vast experience gained in prestigious companies and looks after the welding shop activities.

Mr. Vasant Sutar- A N.C.V.T. trained fitter with vast experience in industry and teaching who looks after fitting shop activities.

Mr. Manoj Bagwe- An I.T.I & N.C.V.T. trained fitter, has good experience and looks after Machine Shop activities.

Mr. A. V. Prabhu- A N.C.V.T. trained welder has experience in both in teaching & industry. He works at the welding and fabrication shop as instructor.

Mr. O. N. Jones- sailed as Marine Fitter on board several ships for several years. He looks after marine machineries

Mr. Felix Pinto, is the Warden

Mr. A. Mhatray, is responsible for Office and Administrative activities.
