DBMA : Facilities

Students are provided with suitable educational aids, besides a single sitting arrangement. Sufficient storage facility is provided for each resident trainee. Each trainee is given a locker to keep his belongings. The Library has a sizable collection of relevant educational and reference books.

A large canteen providing wholesome subsidised food is located next to the workshops.

Safety and it's practice forms an integral part of all training and working at DBMA.

» All the required personal safety equipment is always provided, and our safety record has been excellent (0% serious casualty).

» All the stakeholders of our academy including trainees are insured to a sum of Maximum of Rs. 2 lakhs against any accident within the campus.

» A first-aid box is kept inside all workshops and medical aid in the form of a doctor or nursing homes/hospitals are located near the campus.

» We also have an exclusive aggrement with near by city hospital and research center to get emergency medical needs any time during the day or night.

» All essential safety features are installed in the machine shop and welding shop. Fire fighting equipment is also at hand if required.

Our workshops are large, airy and well equipped for training purposes. Resources are listed below. We can always get any required equipment (or any other help), if available from Don Bosco Institute of Technology – a degree level engineering college and St. Joseph’s I.T.I., which are located on the same campus.

Training in plastic welding such as HDPE is also given. We have separate electric power supply for the welding department as well as a two-stage air compressor, apart from a Pedestal Grinder and several Electric and Pneumatic Manual Grinders of different types. We also have ovens for welding electrodes and all other accessories, including required safety equipment.

We have several Bench Vices (more than 80) in our workshops. We have all the standard and many non-standard tools including pneumatic/electric tools in our workshops as well as a complete set of tools for Pipe Fabrication (Pipe Bending Machine, Pipe Vices etc.), Plumbing, and all the required tools for Structural Fabrication.

Due to the ATS course we have several pieces of equipment, which are typically marine and sourced from ships. These include a large variety of Valves, Pumps, Compressors, Purifiers, Generator Engines and Main Engine Parts. We have two running engines, a Steering Gear and similar equipment. We have also fabricated a tall crane in-house for overhauling diesel generator parts.

We have several models, compressors and other parts and systems of A. C. & refrigeration machinery on our campus. Along with trainers and faculty members at both technician and engineer level, we offer excellent courses. As a maritime academy, we specialize in Shipboard AC and Refrigeration and conduct courses at basic as well as advanced levels.

We conduct basic courses using several pieces of machinery, equipment and instrumentation trainers available in our workshops and laboratories.

Apart from these, we have access to other required equipment or help in any form from the Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT) a degree-level engineering college and St. Joseph’s ITI, which are both located on the same campus.
